Andy leads Aveshka’s Growth and Operations. His high energy level and close attention to detail serve him well as he oversees and manages the operations and business development of Aveshka’s three main divisions. Since joining Aveshka in 2012, Andy’s vast knowledge of the homeland and national security landscape has been a force multiplier to bringing Aveshka’s capabilities and services into new markets. His ability to nurture professional relationships and marry the components of consulting, technology, and innovation have enabled Aveshka to provide creative security solutions for an even wider range of federal, state, international, and commercial clients with complex mission sets. He also simultaneously serves as a Subject Matter Expert for Aveshka’s clients. Passionate about securing the homeland, Andy switched his focus mid-career from law to consulting after 20+ years as a law firm attorney and senior Congressional staffer.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Andy played a lead or major role in writing many of the nation’s homeland security laws. His distinguished career includes service as Minority General Counsel for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, where he oversaw and coordinated the development of legislation on numerous topics, including emergency management, critical infrastructure protection, countering weapons of mass destruction, border and transportation security, and cybersecurity. Andy also served as Senior Counsel for the House Committee on Homeland Security and as Majority Staff Director for the former Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Science and Technology. Prior to helping establish the House Select Committee on Homeland Security after 9/11, Andy worked at the law firms of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, and Sidley Austin, LLP, and clerked for a federal district court judge.
Andrew received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Stanford University, and J.D. from Stanford Law School.
