In February 2021, President Biden signed Executive Order (EO) 14017 to address US and cyber supply chain risk management vulnerabilities to ensure economic prosperity and national security. The mandate includes a comprehensive review and risk assessment of supply chains associated with seven federal agencies to include Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and Transportation.
The EO mandate comes almost a year into the COVID-19 pandemic – a disruption of seismic proportions. Its impacts are not temporary, and we all will continue to feel the reverberation of its effects long after the pandemic is over. In fact, Aveshka experts anticipate such disruptive events will come sooner than every 100 years.
“With vaccines being administered and the country beginning to re-open, few are seriously preparing for a future pandemic at this time,” says Andrew Weis, Aveshka Senior Vice President, Growth and Operations. “The truth is, now is precisely the time for businesses to mobilize and become more resilient and equipped to withstand future disruptions, not if, but when they happen.”
Aveshka has a great appreciation for the EO. Years before the pandemic, Aveshka engineers and analysts developed an innovative solution to address the complex problems associated with managing and maintaining a healthy supply chain. A program at the Department of Homeland Security is currently using this solution.
Aveshka’s Innovation division consists of Applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) software engineers, product owners, and analysts who work closely with our customers to understand their risk environments and identify their security requirements. They provide data-sourced advice regarding the potential risk associated with a proposed purchase.
CANDOR is an Aveshka-developed platform that digests the identified security requirements and applies proven, state of the art AI/ML techniques to continuously build improved insight into a customer’s specific and complex supply chains. Using a blend of applied AI/ML, and large-scale data, Aveshka extended CANDOR’s capabilities to ingest millions of data points to effectively analyze thousands of vendors within the supply chain.
“Analyzing risks and dependencies in the supply chain at scale is no small undertaking,” says Shannon Vaughn, Aveshka’s Chief Innovation Officer. “We created CANDOR to allow our customers to make informed decisions and speed time to insight.”
Determining vulnerability points in the supply chain has never been easier, faster, and more effective. CANDOR’s technological capabilities partnered with human analysis results in a unique, accurate, intuitive, and reliable AI/ML solution to supply chain risk management.
