Numerous Aveshka ASPR team members supporting the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) served as critical driving forces behind the planning and promotion of the first ever, single-day virtual BARDA Industry Day (BID2020). Hillary Reynolds, Jr. Project Manager, and Amy Savoy, Senior Graphics Specialist, played key roles.
BID2020 was a success, but looked a little different this year, going completely virtual for the first time since its inception in 2010. The event took place on Wednesday, October 27, 2020, expounding the BARDA’s mission to advance the innovation and development of novel medical countermeasures and bring together potential collaborators and stakeholders from across the world.
The virtual nature of this meeting allowed more international stakeholders to join than ever before from countries such as Canada, Norway, France, the UK, Germany, Israel, Turkey, and the Philippines to name a few. Over 2,000 people registered to participate in BID2020, representing a ~60% increase over our 2019 registration, and an increase to our organization’s global reach.
The event featured enhanced networking opportunities, Lightning Talks, engaging with BARDA subject matter experts, and interactive learning sessions to name a few. This program also highlighted BARDA’s COVID-19 response and their critical contributions to Operation Warp Speed. Featured speakers for the event represented a variety of industry and public partnerships such as the DOD and BIO, and discussed both current countermeasures efforts, and how they see the field evolving into 2021 and beyond.
Recordings of all Learning and Breakout Sessions will be made available over the coming weeks, to include two dynamic panel discussions led by Aveshka Business and Technical Consultants Marie Wax and Abid Siddiqui. Please stay tuned to this page as we share content from the event.
Aveshka is proud to continue our support of this annual event that sheds light on the U.S. Government’s medical countermeasure initiatives and priorities.
